3 Minutes with Jeri Williams

Jeri Williams set up Smooth Accounting because she was tired of boring, old-fashioned firms who still corresponded via pigeon. With the help of her team, they have a modern approach to one of the world’s oldest professions. Fast forward 8 years and they have gone on to win several awards and expanded overseas with Smooth Accounting Dubai. Jeri strategically grew Smooth to run without her, so that she can enjoy her freedom and being around for her children. She now teaches others how to scale their accounting firms in The Accountants Wealth Academy.

How did you get into the profession?

I was good at Maths at school and wanted to earn a lot of money so I decided accounting was my best option. I went to college, university and then studied my ACA. I didn’t deviate at all from the plan once I had decided my career.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping people to make more money and ultimately changing their lives for the better.

What do you see as key trends for the accounting sector in the coming year?

AI will play a huge part in shaping the accounting world. Firms need to leverage it to the fullest extent to ensure they can deliver the best service.

What are you most looking forward to at Accountex?

Meeting so many people I’ve only ever spoken to online. And also delivering my key note speech.

What do you want visitors to take away from your sessions?

That anything is possible. If I can create my dream life, then so can you and I will show you how.

Jeri will be delivering the seminar ‘How I scaled my firms to 7 figures and stepped away from running them’ at the Orbit theatre at 12pm on 15 May.
